ASAW is conducting a writing competition for primary and secondary school students. Students are asked to write a short piece describing why they would like to own a telescope and what they might do with one.
Prizes are generously donated by members of the Albury-Wodonga community who no longer had a use for them:
Primary school prize
20cm Newtonian reflector on Dobsonian mount with 2 eyepieces
Secondary school prize
Saxon FR900 x 130 Newtonian reflector on an EQ2 mount with 2 eyepieces and clock drive.
Prize winners will also receive one year’s complimentary membership of the Astronomical Society of Albury-Wodonga and will be given training in the set up and use of their telescope.
IMPORTANT: The entry deadline has been extended until 24 July 2015. Winners will be announced during National Science Week, 15-23 August 2015.
